Let There Be Light With Sunrise Candles!
Light and Darkness seem the inextricable things in creation. Light associates with hope. And it gives hope to the hopeless and hapless in the society in general. The narrative – Let There Be Light With Sunrise Candles – is one such and truly inspiring for not just the budding entrepreneurs but to a great many like you and me.
To break the ice, Sunrise Candles is founded by a young lad in Mahabaleshwar way half-score years ago. He is none other than Bhavesh Chandrabai Bhatia.
So what’s his specialty as an entrepreneur?
Well, he is a visually-challenged. Though Bhavesh Bhatia is not born blind, due to Retina Macular Degeneration (RMD) he gradually lost vision by the age of 23. Struggles surrounded him as if he were a close friend to them. To eke out his living, he had to do many odd jobs.
With indefatigable attitude in not letting the disability let him down, he went on to change his life as well as many others now. At one point of time, he came to associate with the National Association for the Blind (NAB). His stint at the NAB as a candle-maker is a game-changer.
Once the four-month course is done, he started making plain candles and sell them at nearby church. He used to save 25 INR per day to buy wax. Because he could not afford to buy expensive dyes and wax. But one fine day, he was able to get a loan of 15, 000 INR.
By the support of his wife Neeta, who met him as a tourist and married him soon after she met him, he went to establish Sunrise Candles that makes plain, scented, aromatic candles.
More interestingly in Sunrise Candles, all the employees, 82 in all, are visually-challenged.
