History of Asian Games:
The Asian Games, are also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sports event held every four years among the athletes from all over Asia. The games were regulated by the Asian Games Federation (AGF) from the first games in New Delhi, India.
Asian Games 2018 @Indonesia:
The Asian Games 2018 which are held from 18th Aug to 2nd Sep 2018. Hosted by Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang. The Asian Games 2018 also known as Jakarta-Palambang 2018. For the first time, Asian Games were co-hosted in two cities. The Asian Games were started on 18th Aug 2018 with 11,646 Athletes of 46 nations. The total events conducted in the Asian Games were 465 in 40 spots. In this event, the opening and ending ceremonies of the games were held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta. In this event the North Korea and South Korea march under the Korean Unification Flag at the opening ceremony. And for the first time, they participated as a unified team in some events and they were one the one and first gold medal in the event as a unified team. Japanese swimmer Rikako Ikee was announced as the most valuable player(MVP) of the games.
India’s Journey in Asian Games 2018 @Indonesia:
India competed Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. From 18th Aug to 2nd Sep 2018. Neeraj Chopra was the Flag bearer for the opening ceremony and Rani Rampal was named as the Flag bearer for the closing ceremony.
India participated in Asiad 2018 with 23 men and 28 women athletes. And India owns 69 medals with 15 gold, 24 silver, 30 bronze. India created few national records in Asiad 2018. Registers some firsts with the first medal in sepaktakraw, Rahi sarnobat became first Indian woman to win Asian Games Gold medal in Shooting and Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian woman to win the Gold medal in Wrestling. Neeraj Chopra is the man who won the gold medal for India in the Javelin throw at the age of 20. Rohan Bopanna and Sharan Divij won the Gold medal for India in men’s Doubles in tennis. Bajrang punia won the gold medal for India in 65kgs freestyle and Vinesh Phogat won gold in woman’s 50 kg freestyle. Finally, Pranab Bardhan Shibhnath Sarkar took India’s gold medal count to 15. Finally, India competed in the Asian Games @8.
